Biidaaban Kinoomaagegamik students, staff and family members arrived ahead of lunch time at the school on Friday, October 11, to enjoy a feast together in celebration of Thanksgiving. Parents, Grandparents, Caregivers, and members of Staff contributed a dish of their choice to the feast. What a spread there was!
‘Everything from soup to nuts' possibly, in this case definitely, turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, gravy, stuffing, numerous salads and dips, vegetable platters, macaroni, rice, fruits, chips, desserts, and countless other scrumptious treats lined the bountiful tables setup in both the primary and senior hallways. The line ups were lengthy, but people were through in no time at all, and there was plenty of food for everyone. Plates were heaped up and overflowing with a variety of healthy, homemade foods to satisfy anyone’s taste buds. Laughing, talking together, offering a place in line, taking time away from work duties to spend with loved ones – that’s what this event was all about.
Family members were welcomed to join the students in their classrooms to sit, eat, and chat together. They also had an opportunity to meet the teacher and learn about what the kids were experiencing at school.
It was a time of giving thanks, blessings, abundance of food, and fellowship shared as a school community.
